The Unilever International Schools Art Project, now in its fifth year, encourages young people from around the world to create a painting, sculputre or a small installation on a given theme. Over 50,000 children have taken part since the project's inception. Last year thousands of young artists participated, from 16 countries around the world, including Brazil, China, Colombia, Ghana, Nigeria, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the UK.
The intitative is linked to The Unilever Series of contemporary art commissions at Tate Modern, and it encourages young people to create original work on a given theme that relates to the work of the commissioned artist for The Unilever Series.
The artist Rachel Whiteread has created the sixth commission in The Unilever Series, and her work has inspired this year's UISAP theme Inside Out: Conceal and Reveal.
The Unilever International Schools Art Project comprises Teachers' Notes and Worksheets for teachers and pupils - to inspire and sustain work throughout the school year and beyond.
